We’re thrilled to announce the launch of GTM Kit version 1.20, packed with exciting new features and improvements designed to streamline your Google Tag Manager experience and enhance your e-commerce tracking capabilities. With a keen focus on efficiency and user experience, this update introduces GTM templates, support for new tracking parameters, a debug log feature for purchase events, and a significant speed improvement to the control panel.
What’s New in 1.20
Enhancements:
GTM Templates: To ease the configuration process within Google Tag Manager, we’ve added a new section dedicated to GTM templates. These templates are designed to help you quickly set up the necessary Tags, Triggers, and Variables, reducing setup time and ensuring you’re capturing the right data from the start.
‘New_customer’ Parameter Support: Understanding the importance of customer acquisition metrics, we’ve added support for the ‘new_customer’ parameter on the ‘purchase’ event. This parameter is crucial for customer acquisition reporting and optimizing Google Smart Shopping campaigns, giving you a clearer picture of your e-commerce performance.
Debug Log for ‘Purchase’ Event: To aid in troubleshooting and testing, we’ve introduced a debug log feature that allows you to debug the ‘purchase’ event without completing an actual purchase. This feature is invaluable for ensuring your tracking setup is accurate and functioning as intended.
Control Panel PageSpeed Improvement: Recognizing the value of your time, we’ve significantly improved the loading speed of the control panel. The GTM Kit control panel now loads faster than ever, streamlining your workflow and enhancing your user experience.
Bugfixes:
Currency Parameter for ‘view_item’ Event: We’ve fixed an issue where the ‘currency’ parameter was missing on the ‘view_item’ event, ensuring that your event data is complete and accurate.
Payment Type for ‘add_payment_info’ Event: The missing ‘payment_type’ parameter has been added to the ‘add_payment_info’ event, providing more detailed insights into payment preferences and behaviors.
Correct Data Structure for Events: We’ve corrected a critical bug where the items parameter was cast as an object instead of an array on the ‘add_shipping_info’ and ‘add_payment_info’ events. This fix ensures data integrity and proper event processing.
Other Updates:
WooCommerce 8.0 Requirement: To ensure the best performance and compatibility, GTM Kit version 1.20 now requires WooCommerce 8.0. This update aligns with our commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest e-commerce trends and technologies.
