At the time of writing the latest version of PHP is 8.2. The most use PHP version For WordPress and WooCommerce is still 7.4. Even though current requirement for WooCommerce is PHP 7.2, WordPress itself still supports PHP 5.6.
This wide spread of PHP versions from 5.6 to 8.2 is making it hard for the WordPress community to test different versions. Many PHP libraries don’t support the old PHP versions, which means that compatibility with older versions is preventing advances to new technology.
So it is in the interest of the whole WordPress community that everyone uses newer versions of PHP. If you are still using PHP 7.2 you should start planning af upgrade now.
WooCommerce is planning to raise the PHP requirement further to version 7.4 in the second half on 2023 and GTM Kit will follow when this happens.
